We have local organic winter squash! Time to fill your home with some edible fall flavor. These winter squash will last for up to six months if they are not bruised. They will be featured in the Variety boxes in the next few weeks, but are also avail be for ala carte or addition to a box purchase.
Any winter squash can be simply prepared by halving, removing the seeds and roasting. Some people like to save the seeds and roast them for a snack. Most squash have a creamy texture with spaghetti squash being the exception. It has a stringy spaghetti pasta shaped flesh when cooked.
Right now look for butternut, acorn, sweet dumpling and spaghetti squash. In the next few weeks other varieties and local pie pumpkins will be available as well.
